
Gong, Tianchou
President
Tianchou Gong is a graduate student pursuing an M.S. in Computer Science at Northeastern University, San Jose. He has been a member of the MIG Lab since May 2023. His primary areas of research in Database Management Systems and Machine Learning, reflecting his interest in the intricate world of organizing and extracting insights from data, as well as harnessing the power of algorithms to enable intelligent decision-making systems.

Liu, Mengyuan
Vice President
Mengyuan Liu is a graduate student at Northeastern University’s San Jose campus, pursuing a Master of Science in Computer Science. Since joining the MIG Lab in April 2024, she has focused her research on Computer Vision, Deep Learning, and Medical Image Analysis. Her work highlights a deep passion for decoding the intricacies of medical images and applying AI to drive advancements in clinical applications.

Chen, Kaiqi
Kaiqi Chen is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Computer Science at Northeastern University. After joining the MIG lab under the guidance of Professor Jeongkyu Lee, she has been delving into research areas centered on DICOM visualization, analysis, and 3D reconstruction. Kaiqi possesses a solid foundation in software development, rooted in her academic coursework at school and hands-on internship experiences in the industry. She is highly interested in MRI visualization and remains passionately committed to the broader realm of image processing.

Faltamo, Bereket
Bereket Faltamo is a master’s in computer science student at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. He joined MIG Lab in the Fall of 2023 as a Khoury research apprentice working on MRI image segmentation for Musculoskeletal Models. Before that, he did his Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering undergrad at KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology).

Mendoza, LeAnn
LeAnn Mendoza is an MS in Data Science, Align student at Northeastern University, Silicon Valley. LeAnn has a BS in Bioengineering: Bioinformatics from UC San Diego and 4 years of experience in machine learning and data science in academic research, business intelligence, ophthalmology, and education. LeAnn’s project “Employing Knowledge Distillation to Create Light-Weight Lane Detection Machine Learning Models for Low-Cost Computing Environments” is the first project that established the MIG Lab @SJ and received 2nd place in the Graduate Category of the ACM Student Research Competition at SIGCSE’23 in Toronto, ON, Canada. LeAnn’s research focus is on AI for social impact. She is also passionate about empowering and advancing diverse voices to break into Tech.

Vasu, Divit
Divit Vasu graduated with an MS in CS from Khoury College of Computer Sciences in May 2023 and has a Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering. He has been a member of the MIG Lab since February 2023. His research interests include Deep Learning and Database Management Systems. He is currently a Software Engineer for a startup called Miles in Redwood City, CA.

Xiang, Lili
Lili Xiang is a computer science graduate student at Northeastern University with a background in data warehousing. She has actively participated in the MIG lab, contributing to projects like SQLearn and MRI data preparation, which reflects her passion for leveraging technology to address practical challenges in data engineering and machine learning.

Ganesan, Sumukhi
Sumukhi Ganesan is a graduate student in Data Science at the San Jose campus. She has a background in Electronics and Communication Engineering and has 4 years of professional experience in data analytics. Sumukhi is the student leader of MIG Lab and has been an active member since its inception in Fall 2022. Her primary areas of interest include applied machine learning, TinyML, and learning analytics. She is passionate about harvesting the enormous potential of data in improving learning and education.
